Objectives:
1-
Updating existing
biotechnology courses to develop well-balanced curricula for
Biotechnology education.
2-
Upgrading teaching skills in
Biotechnology.
3-
Improving practical class
quality.
4-
Providing opportunity for
training students on the state of the art in Biotechnology.
Achievements:
1- Course specifications and
program specifications have been prepared and revised .
2- The Program courses have been
revised by Egyptian and American reviewers .
The coordinator of the B.Sc. Biotechnology program at
Rutgers Univ., ( U.S.A.) evaluated the activities of the
program . Quality control workshop has been held at the end
of the visit.
3- Courses have been evaluated by students (five
semesters).
4-
Renovation of laboratories and teaching classrooms.
5- Selection and procurement of equipment
and software.
6- Two workshops have been held on : “Teaching modern
technology in gene transfer and tissue culture”, by an
expert from Hannover Univ. (Germany). And "Teaching
technologies in advanced molecular biology", by an expert
from Towson Univ. (USA).
7- Twenty staff members attended two workshops on
Bioinformatics conducted by an American expert.
8- A Junior staff member travelled to
Rutgers Univ. , and transferred modern teaching
technologies to colleagues in Egypt .
9- Intensive hands-on student's summer training has been
carried out in one of the best
research institutes for Biotechnology (Agriculture
Genetic Engineering Research
Institute) .
10- A brochure has been prepared and distributed in
Egypt and different Arab and African countries. |
