  University Award of Excellence 2005- 2006

Study system for post graduate stage is divided into two parts:

1-     Diplomas:

 A study based on curricula with an academic and applied nature for one year at least.

 

2-     MA degree:

A study includes advanced curricula in addition to training students in research and induction. Such study ends in writing a thesis that must be approved by an exam committee in which the supervisor is a member. The duration of such process can not be less than two years.

 

Students who register for MA must meet the following requirements:

- They must be with a bachelor degree from one of the Egyptian universities with grade good at least or an equivalent academic degree from any other academic institute accredited by the university.

-         The student must pass a full academic year exams after studying certain subjects approved by the faculty council.

-         After passing those exams, students prepare a proposal tackling a certain academic focus approved by the faculty council according to the recommendations of the department council.

 

3-     PhD degree:

-         It is based on the idea of a creative research for no less than two years ending in presenting a thesis that must be approved by the judging committee. Students can be assigned to do some advanced researches according to the regulations of the faculties.

Conditions for Registering for PhD :

-         Students must have an MA degree in the major “area of specialization" from one of the Egyptian universities or an equivalent degree from one of the accredited academic institutes.

-         Students should also do some creative researches tackling a certain point approved by the faculty board according to suggestions of the concerned department for two years at least.

-         One student must stay in Egypt after registering his/her thesis for the spar time of at least one year before presenting his/her thesis.

-         Students must state the result of their researches in a thesis approved by the judging committee after a dissertation.

 

4- D.Sc. Degree:

Faculty of Science grants the doctorate degree in science "D.Sc" on the following conditions:

1-     Student must have a PhD degree in science since five years at least.

2-     Students should present creative published researches that have never been presented before for a PhD or an MA in science. They should also clarify the general trends of their researches in addition to the scientific benefit of such researches and their contributions in joint researches and their supervision of Ph.D and MA researches.

The faculty council examines the eligibility of the presented academic researches in order to pass them to the judging committee that consists of current and former professors in Egyptian universities. 

5-     Honorary Doctorate:

A university grants the honorary doctorate according to a decision from the university council or recommendation from one of the faculties or institutes to those who present great services to their country, universities, or humanity.
