Project of Developing Faculties of Education

 

-         Providing the student, who is supposed to be a teacher, with the necessary knowledge and professional, educational and scientific skills to enable him/her to practise learning independently or cooperatively with his/her colleagues and providing knowledge, skills, and directions for all staff members and administrative staff of the faculty which enable them to create a suitable academic atmosphere.

-         Applying different evaluating systems that could show different dimensions for student growth and starting follow up studies with results help to find out if the graduates can teach effectively, in addition to providing a sufficient opportunity for the student who is supposed to be a teacher to get a training about the effective educational interaction with a variety of students in different dimensions and also getting training on using advanced educational technology in teaching to enrich students' learning.

-         Encouraging academic behavior, reflective practice, continuous progress, and cooperation between staff members and learners, and taking into consideration that the process of preparing the teacher is a continuous one starting from preparation and teaching methods for beginners until other professional stages.

How can universities benefit from the project?

- Materialistic facilities, advanced education technology, teaching halls and high technological libraries are provided by faculties of education since they provide place and equipment to infrastructure to complement such advanced technological systems and operate and maintain them in addition to producing educational resources.

- Processes of purchasing, testing, final delivery of equipment are done according to the funding conditions of the international bank and all works are to be done by the end of the 2004.

 

-         The project trains information specialists and staff members in the faculties of education in using and maintaining computers. The project also provides a training opportunity in advanced education technology and setting syllabi and teaching and evaluating them electronically in addition to using the Internet for educational purposes by staff members.

-         The project provides an advanced training opportunity for superiors (10% of trainees) in specific institutes abroad; those trainees train other staff members in their faculties according to TOT system. 

 

Technology and educational resources and facilities:

1-     Unit of learning resources in each academic department.

2-      Center of educational technology.

3-     Lab of learning techniques and micro- teaching.

4-     Digital library.

5-     Multimedia hall for learning and conferences.

6-     Advanced lab for computer.

7-     Digital lab for languages.

8-     Digital lab for psychology.

9-     Digital lab for math.

10- Internal net and Internet services.

11- Labs of specialized fields (Botany, Zoology, Physics, Chemistry, Geology).

These needs are provided in coordination with the deans of the faculties of education to reach the utmost possible benefit from the available budgets of the project.
